Javion Jefferies - SC Winner 2026 CCHRCO BEYOND Scholarship

SC CCHRCO BEYOND Scholarship Winner:

A graduate of Gaffney High School in Gaffney, SC, Javion Jefferies was selected as a 2026 Carolinas Council of Housing Redevelopment and Codes Officials (CCHRCO) BEYOND scholarship recipient. Javion is a resident of the Gaffney Housing Authority.

Javion plans to attend the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in the fall to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

When sharing what drew him to pursue a career in engineering, Javion shared, "My long-term dream goes beyond becoming an engineer. One day, I hope to own my own engineering company, one built on innovation, leadership, and purpose. Success, to me, is not only measured by money or status. True success is measured by the positive impact someone leaves on others. My vision for my future company is not only to create successful engineering solutions, but to become a source of support for communities and people who are often overlooked. I want my company to be known for philanthropy just as much as business success. I understand what it feels like to struggle, and I want others to know that where they come from does not have to determine where they end up."

Through a letter of recommendation, his teacher shared, "His excellence in the classroom was not limited to his academic achievement; Javion was a leader for his peers. It was a pleasure to see him step up to help his classmates when they would struggle with the content in class. Javion has an impressive talent for fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. He leads by example, exhibiting patience, understanding, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. His empathy allows him to connect with students and help them through their problems in such a way that other students remain open to his input."

Each year, two $500 BEYOND Scholarships are awarded to two residents of CCHRCO member agencies. One NC resident and one SC resident are selected to receive the $500 BEYOND Scholarship.
