Housing Bill 346 – Inclusionary Zoning Bill

The City of Charleston, the City of Greenville, the South Carolina Community Loan Fund (SCCLF), Historic Charleston Foundation (HCF), Humanities Foundation and a host of other partners have worked cooperatively to prepare Enabling Legislation that would create an Inclusionary Zoning Bill for the State of South Carolina.  The Bill, numbered S.346 would support a percentage of housing for persons of low and moderate incomes being constructed in every development in cities across our State.  The Bill is sponsored by Senator Marlon Kimpson and was heard by the Senate Judiciary Committee, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 @ 9 am in the Gresette Building, Room 407, Columbia, SC.  The Committee is comprised of Senators Sandy Senn, Thomas McElveen and A. Shane Massey, Chairperson of the Subcommittee.  This committee will determine if the Bill goes to the full committee.  Your SUPPORT is needed! Each of us recognize the tremendous need for housing that supports the persons we serve and it is time for our voices to be heard.

On April 19, 2017 the Senate subcommittee voted to move the legislation forward.
