The Carolina's Council of Housing and Redevelopment & Codes Officials (CCHRCO) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Commissioner of the Year Award. This prestigious honor recognizes commissioners who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, advocacy, and service in advancing housing and community development in North and South Carolina.

We encourage all CCHRCO Member agencies across the state to consider nominating one or more of their outstanding commissioners. This is an excellent opportunity to:

• Recognize the dedication and impact of your commissioners
• Highlight their leadership and community engagement
• Celebrate their contributions to your agency, the state, and the housing profession

Nomination Criteria
The following information will need to be supplied as part of your nominee submission.

1. Leadership and Advocacy
   Describe how the nominee has demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting community support for housing and community development initiatives. Include specific examples of advocacy, influence, or initiatives that advanced these programs.
   
   
2. Vision and Communication
   Highlight the nominee's ability to clearly articulate the mission, goals, and impact of the authority's work, including relevant educational or professional background that enhances credibility.
   
   
3. Public Relations and Outreach
   Describe the nominee's skill in effectively communicating the authority's accomplishments, policies, programs, and strategic vision to media, stakeholders, and the public.
   
   
4. Service to Housing Organizations
   Detail the nominee's contributions to CCHRCO, SERC, NAHRO, PHADA, or other housing-related organizations that demonstrate dedication to advancing the profession.
   
   
5. Board Contributions
   List the nominee's most significant achievements or initiatives on their local board, emphasizing measurable impact or transformative outcomes.
   
   
6. Community Engagement
   Outline the nominee's involvement in community organizations, boards, or activities that reflect a commitment to civic engagement and public service.
