2026 CCHRCO Commissioners Conference: Boots on the Ground, Eyes on the Future

We are pleased to invite you to the 2026 Carolina's Council of Housing Redevelopment & Codes Officials (CCHRCO) Commissioners' Conference, taking place April 17-19, 2026, at the Embassy Suites Kingston Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

This year's theme, "Boots on the Ground, Eyes on the Future," reflects the vital role Commissioners play in balancing day-to-day realities with forward-thinking leadership. The conference brings together Commissioners from across North and South Carolina for focused training, peer engagement, and practical insight to support effective governance.

As Commissioners, you hold critical legal and fiduciary responsibility for your Public Housing Agencies. This conference is designed to strengthen your capacity to lead with accountability, strategy, and purpose. We strongly encourage each agency to send at least three Commissioners to participate.

2026 Training Highlights Include:

• Back to Basics: Strengthening Core Responsibilities of Commissioners Executive recruitment, compensation and incentives, and evaluating your Executive Director.
  
  
• Eyes on the Future: Vision-Driven Governance and Strategic Foresight Commissioners fundamentals, including policy and oversight, PHA finances, operations, development, ethics, and advocacy (all-day course).
  
  
• Law on the Ground: Legal Realities Every Commissioner Must Know Attorney-led discussion on public housing history, RAD, nonprofit governance, open meetings and records, policy compliance, Fair Housing, and landlord-tenant law.
  
  
• Leading from Where You Stand: Accountability in Action A motivational session focused on leadership, accountability, and service.
  
  
• Boots on the Ground Leadership: Real-World Tools for Today's Challenges Interactive roundtable on funding, development, redevelopment, grants, and innovative solutions.

We will also honor outstanding leadership through the 2026 NC & SC Commissioner of the Year Awards and encourage each agency to submit a nomination.
